Year 2 Writing Workshop - Autumn 1

Brand-new for 2024/25 is our FREDsTeaching Writing Workshop! The whole purpose of this resource is to develop writing composition and enjoyment for the writers in your classroom over an extended period of time. If run as an intervention, you should aim for two sessions per week.

Each session explores a fantastic piece of published writing and then includes examination of appropriate grammar objectives, a look at vocabulary, opportunity to discuss the purpose of writing and finally an opportunity for the children to write.

The resource has been designed so that it can be used whole-class or as a targeted intervention to support children with improving their writing, regardless of their current level.

Over time, these sessions will cover all national curriculum objectives, develop children’s understanding of why they make different decisions when composing written pieces and build writing stamina.
