LKS2 Writing Unit: Egyptology – Information Text

Brand new for 2024/25 is this awesome writing unit for LKS2.

This unit uses the fantastic book Egyptology by Dugald Steer as a hook and WAGOLL (what a good one looks like).

Designed to be used over a period of three weeks, there are a range of daily vocabulary, grammar and writing tasks, building up to a final outcome of writing an information text based around Tutankhamun.

The unit covers a range of National Curriculum writing objectives including:

  • Use of commas in a list
  • Use of formal language
  • Using fronted adverbials
  • Correct use of the present tense

There are daily writing opportunities, oracy sections to encourage sharing and discussion, exploration of WAGOLL examples, daily feedback slides and time to plan, write and edit written work.
